Below you will find some of my past Art Direction and VFX Miniatures.
STIGMATA - Art Director (MGM)
Every frame of this film had such a bold style. Designer Waldemar Kalinowski referenced everything from Algerian comic book artists to Italian Renaissance paintings. We created Pittsburgh on the Universal backlot, built several interiors at CBS Radford and opened up the film in Mexico. This movie was heavy with SFX, stunts and specialty rigs - plenty of components to keep us on our toes. It was an amazing project!
Cast: Patricia Arquette, Gabriel Byrne, Nia Long

WHITE OLEANDER- Art Director (Warner Bros.)
It was a real pleasure to work with Designer Donald Graham Burt (Oscar Winner - Benjamin Button) - his approach was tasteful and intuitive, especially when it came to colors. In addition to the usual construction and decor, we also produced some modern art pieces for both Michelle Pfeiffer and Alison Lohman's characters .

TERMINATOR 2 - VFX Model Maker (4-Ward)
Working on T2 was a certainly a test for our Miniatures Dept. VFX Supervisors Bob and Denny Skotak were perfectionists when it came to replicating scaled realism. The king palms and evergreens that I constructed for the nuclear blast were a mix of latex, mylar and graphite rods. We also rebuilt that L.A. skyline numerous times. In the end, everyone was thrilled when Bob won the Oscar!
Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton

SAFE - Art Director (Sony Picture Classics)
This unexpected Art-House hit was an Official Selection of Sundance and Cannes. We shot during the Northridge earthquake, which was quite the challenge as some of the freeways had collapsed. I'll always remember attending the screening with Designer David Bomba and both of us being pleasantly surprised by the unsettling tone of Todd's film.
Cast: Julianne Moore, Xander Berkeley

THE ARRIVAL - Art Director (LIVE Ent.)
This was the first time that I worked out of the country. Production Designer Michael Novotny gave me this wonderful opportunity and I will always be grateful to him for bringing me on. We had an immensely talented crew in Mexico City and a massive workload that included building an extra-terrestrial underground lair, sections of a tracking station, a three-floor bathroom set with a collapsible floor plus a colorful Dia de los Muertos celebration. It was a once in a lifetime experience and also lots of fun to hang out with Charlie Sheen.
